Ubisoft can't seem to catch a break when it comes to leaks regarding one of its flagship franchises. Online listings from multiple retailers indicate that the next entry in the Assassin's Creed series will supposedly release this October. According to Swiss retailer World of Games and Alcom, players will indeed get their hands on Assassin's Creed Empire this fall after Ubisoft took a one year hiatus from releasing any new main games in the franchise.

As Windows Central notes, World of Games correctly leaked Battlefield 1's existence and release month last year, however it was listed as Battlefield 5 at the time and marked with an October 26 release date, just five days later than what became the actual release date of October 21.

Interestingly, as this Reddit thread on the Assassin's Creed subreddit points out, another website, City Disc, pegs the release date of Assassin's Creed Empire for November 30. Odds are that all of these listings are placeholder dates, but taking into account when previous Assassin's Creed games have launched, it seems likely that Empire will launch in October 2017.

In 2014, World of Games listed Assassin's Creed Rogue which was only known previously under its codename, Assassin's Creed Comet. This could mean that Assassin's Creed Empire is the final name and not a working project title, but World of Games also listed Battlefield 1 as Battlefield 5 when it was first leaked, so don't take this listing as confirmation.

Reports of an Assassin's Creed Empire surfaced early last year as Kotaku corroborated claims that Ubisoft would be skipping a major 2016 release. According to Kotaku's sources, Assassin's Creed Empire will be set in ancient Egypt. Rumors appeared on 4chan boards that this Assassin's Creed would act as a prequel of sorts to the other games in the series as it takes place before the Assassins and Templars formally existed in their current forms. Alleged features include a freeform combat system, horses, boats, and a deeper player progression system.

Ubisoft is yet to officially announce Assassin's Creed Empire. Given these listings and that Ubisoft announced Syndicate before E3, albeit spurred on by leaks, I would expect a reveal soon.
