Ubisoft has announced that the company is expanding in Europe by opening two new studios in Berlin and Bordeaux. These studios will focus on development of AAA multiplatform games. In addition, they will assist in creating games for some of the biggest franchises in the industry.
Christine Burgess-Quémard, executive director of Ubisoft’s worldwide studios, said, “We pride ourselves on attracting and retaining the best creative talent around the world, and on establishing video games as a viable career option and economic contributor in new locales."
Ubisoft Bordeaux joins four other Ubisoft studios already established in France. Bordeaux will aid in development on games and franchises like Just Dance, Steep, and Ghost Recon Wildlands.
Ubisoft Berlin will be working closely with Blue Byte, an established German studio known as an industry leader in PC strategy games. Both teams will be developing an unannounced AAA project. Ubisoft is looking to grow the studio to around 50 people within the first 12 months.
Employing thousands of people worldwide, Ubisoft is a massive company. Opening up new studios should help foster more creative endeavors and enrich preexisting franchises.
