For Honor supposedly doesn’t use dedicated servers

Ubisoft’s upcoming melee-fighter, hack-and-slash title, For Honor, seems to not have any form of dedicated servers in the recent Alpha test of the game.

Instead relying on peer-to-peer networking, an age-old method for multiplayer video games, the always-online title will require users to run matches through each other’s internet with one player acting as the host instead of everyone connecting to a secure server.

Although the user broke NDA, Vid.Me user El_Duairra posted a video showing the P2P multiplayer in For Honor and how, even for a technical test, the game suffered from disconnects and mid-match interruptions throughout the entire four-and-a-half-minute clip.

Ubisoft have not yet commented on whether For Honor’s full release will have dedicated servers or not but hopefully the game won’t have to rely on Peer-to-Peer connections which, obviously, carry a host of problems.
