New Forza Motorsport 6: Apex gameplay leaks

New footage of the upcoming free-to-pay Forza for Windows 10, Forza Motorsport 6: Apex has leaked online. The footage includes several dozen screenshots and a three and a half minute video. This is the first PC release from Turn 10 and it looks to be very refined and optimized.

The video footage was released to a Vimeo channel from a user known as NullAffiliation, the same user also leaked the screenshots to Imgur. NullAffiliation also has a Twitter account with the same name where he has sent out two tweets. The first tweet was a link to the Imgur album saying “Anyone heard of that Forza 6 Apex game? I’ve heard it’s pretty good”. The next tweet linked to the video where NullAffiliation said “Software recording is hard. Exporting to mov when you don’t have Quicktime installed is harder”.

The video shows off the Top Gear test track in the rain, and confirms other locations such as Rio De Janeiro, Sebring and Yas Marina Circuit. The user will be able to play a variety of tracks at these locations with different customization options such as night and day or wet and dry. The video also shows off some of the vehicles available in the game, these include the Jaguar XRK-S GT, Mustang GT Coupe, Koenigsegg Agera, Lamborghini Huracan, Atom 500 V8, Bugatti Veyron and many more.

Judging by the screenshots, the game seems to use a token system for unlocking cars. Tokens are unlocked by completing Tour races and when you have collected enough tokens a car is unlocked for you. From the screenshots it looks like you collect medals instead of spending them.

It would appear that you can paint and tune the cars but it seems like you are unable to customise them or create liveries. The tuning options seem to be the same ones found in previous Forza games, you can change the tire pressure, anti-roll bars, and springs and gearing alignment. Cars can also be unlocked without earning Forza medals, this is likely the micro-transactions Turned 10 confirmed.

The Tour mode seems to the career mode equivalent found in Forza 6, this is where you will unlock the previously mentioned Forza Medals that will be required for unlocking vehicles. There is also an option for Free Play where players can choose their car, track and weather, the amount of Drivatar’s, set laps, collisions and the aggression of the Drivatars.

The screenshots also show off the menu and UI for the game. It looks similar to the Xbox One version but slightly toned down. There seems to be no option for multiplayer and leagues. The game still seems to feature driver record, message centre, Forzavista, Forza Hub and the marketplace. The options menu includes the things you’d expect to see such as audio, video, input and HUD settings. In addition, to all of this the game still has the message centre which could mean rewards and gifts may be available in the PC edition. The marketplace could indicate future DLC cars for the game.

The video options include render quality, resolution, VSync, shadow quality, particle resolution, car texture, mirror quality, depth of field, windshield reflection quality, track texture quality, MSAA quality, and more. Turn 10 seems to have included a lot of options for PC users to tinker with to try to get the most out of the game.

As of yet a release date is unknown but the game is available on the Windows store and it is listed as “coming soon”. Turn 10 recently said that Forza games will be developed concurrently for Xbox One ad PC so this could mean that Apex is the first of many Forza games to release for PC and with E3 2016 soon we may get another Forza game for both Xbox One and PC. The game will not feature wheel support or multiplayer at launch.

Below you’ll find the video and the album containing all the screenshots released. Are you guys as excited for this game as I am? Let us know in the comments.
