Update: Xbox Store listing for Left 4 Dead 2 confirms rumor. The game also be downloaded now.
Since backward compatibility was first announced at E3 last year, Valve’s Left 4 Dead 2 has been one of the most yearned for titles from the general public, with over 64,000 votes on the Xbox feedback webpage.
An image posted recently on Reddit indicates that Left 4 Dead 2 for Xbox 360 has been downloaded onto an Xbox One console. However, even users enrolled in the Xbox Preview Program have reported attempting to play the game on their Xbox One consoles to no avail.
The legitimacy of this image is certainly something to call into question. Then again, after seeing Portal: Still Alive and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, other popular games also made by Valve, hit backward compatibility recently, it seems entirely possible that Left 4 Dead 2 could be close behind. Now that Microsoft is rolling out backwards compatible games as they become available rather than releasing a monthly catalog, it wouldn’t be surprising to see an announcement officially confirming Left 4 Dead 2 any day now. All one can do at the moment is wait and hope.
