It has been announced that inXile’s post-apocalyptic RPG, Wasteland 2 will be coming to Xbox One and Playstation 4 on October 13. The game will come to console via Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut, which will overhaul the games graphics, and a range of other features.
Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut will be a largely improved version of the title, with an upgraded lighting system, and higher resolution environment and character models. Sounds used in the game have also been re-recorded, such as weapon sounds and voices. Tens of thousands of lines have been re-recorded, specifically for this edition.
While these new features have been added, exclusive to consoles, new systems have been implemented to adapt the game to a controller input. The UI and controls have been changed, giving a supposedly smooth and solid experience, without the need for a keyboard and mouse.
The PC version of the game, which was originally kickstarted raising $3 million in 2012, was a sequel to 1998’s Wasteland. The PC Game of the Year edition of Wasteland 2 includes some features of the console upgrade, given as a free update for all players.
Wasteland 2: Director’s Cut will be playable at Gamescom, in Deep Silver’s booth, next week.
