The biggest release is Halo: Campaign Evolved, a full remake of the original Halo campaign that launches through Game Pass on July 28. It is joined by Mistfall Hunter, Gears of War: Reloaded, The Planet Crafter, Denshattack!, Buckshot Roulette, and several smaller day-one releases.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is July’s biggest Game Pass game

Halo: Campaign Evolved launches on July 28 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and cloud gaming. It will be available on its release day through Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass.

This is not another basic resolution upgrade. Halo Studios is rebuilding the campaign from Halo: Combat Evolved with new visuals, updated cinematics, redesigned audio, refined controls and changes to familiar levels.

The package contains the original 10-mission campaign and a new three-mission story called Operation: METEORITE. The additional storyline takes place one year before the events of the original Halo and follows Master Chief and Sergeant Johnson during a secret UNSC mission aboard a Covenant research vessel.

Halo Studios has also added nine weapons from across the wider Halo series, more enemy variants, vehicle hijacking and a fully drivable Wraith tank. The campaign supports two-player split-screen co-op on consoles and four-player online co-op.

Cross-play and cross-progression are supported across Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, Steam and PlayStation 5. Xbox Play Anywhere support also means that Xbox players can move between the console and Microsoft Store PC versions without purchasing the game twice.

Premium and Collector’s Edition owners can begin playing on July 23, but the standard Game Pass release remains July 28.

Mistfall Hunter launches through Game Pass on July 29

Mistfall Hunter arrives on July 29 for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC. Developer Bellring Games has confirmed that it will be available through Xbox Game Pass on day one.

It is a third-person dark fantasy extraction action RPG set in a destroyed world called Weavereach. You enter a dangerous region covered by the Gyldenmist, fight corrupted monsters, gather valuable equipment and attempt to escape with everything you have collected.

Unlike a traditional role-playing game, death has a significant cost. You can lose the items gathered during a run when another player or computer-controlled enemy defeats you before extraction.

Mistfall Hunter combines melee weapons, magic, free aiming, active abilities, talent trees and equipment bonuses. It has six classes, and each one supports two weapon styles that can be changed during combat.

You can explore alone or enter with a three-player squad. Other squads may appear during a session, which gives the game its combination of PvE monster battles and potentially unpredictable PvP encounters.

Gears of War: Reloaded expands to more Game Pass subscribers

Gears of War: Reloaded joined Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass on July 9 after previously being offered through Game Pass Premium.

The remaster includes the original Gears of War campaign, the additional campaign act first released on PC, multiplayer maps, bonus characters and previously released cosmetic content.

The Coalition has also added upgraded textures, improved lighting, faster loading, 4K output and multiplayer support at up to 120 frames per second on compatible hardware and displays.

This is a good entry point for anyone who has not played the original Gears of War. It also gives existing fans a convenient way to revisit the beginning of Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago’s story before Gears of War: E-Day.

The Planet Crafter comes to Xbox on July 21

The Planet Crafter joins cloud, Xbox Series X|S and PC Game Pass on July 21. It also supports Xbox Play Anywhere and online co-op for up to eight players.

You are sent to a lifeless planet and given a simple but enormous objective: make it suitable for human life.

The game begins as a survival and resource-gathering experience. You need to manage oxygen, construct a shelter and collect materials before building heaters, drills and machines that can change the planet’s atmosphere.

The environment develops visibly as your terraformation score increases. Ice begins to melt, lakes form, the sky changes, vegetation spreads and animal life eventually appears.

The Planet Crafter should appeal to people who enjoy the construction and exploration of games such as Subnautica but want a calmer experience with less emphasis on combat.

Buckshot Roulette makes its Xbox debut

Buckshot Roulette arrived on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and cloud gaming on July 8. It joined Xbox Game Pass on the same day and supports Xbox Play Anywhere.

The short horror strategy game replaces the revolver traditionally associated with Russian roulette with a pump-action shotgun. A mixture of blank and live shells is loaded into the weapon, and you must determine when to fire at yourself or your opponent.

Items can reveal shells, alter the turn order, restore health or change the damage caused by a shot. The challenge comes from tracking the remaining shells and deciding whether the potential reward is worth the risk.

The Xbox release includes the original experience, the Double or Nothing score mode and online multiplayer for up to four players.

Denshattack! turns a train into a skateboard

Denshattack! launched through Game Pass on July 15 for Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC. It also supports Xbox Play Anywhere and cloud gaming.

The concept sounds intentionally absurd: it is an extreme sports game in which you perform skateboard-style tricks using a train.

You travel across abandoned railway lines in a Japanese-inspired dystopian world while performing jumps, grinds, flips and long combinations. The scoring and movement are inspired by skateboarding games, but the train’s size and momentum create a very different type of obstacle course.

Denshattack! is one of July’s more original additions. It is also a useful change of pace from the shooters, survival games and extraction experiences elsewhere in the lineup.

Shift At Midnight arrives on July 22

Shift At Midnight launches through Game Pass on July 22 for Xbox Series X|S and PC. It supports Xbox Play Anywhere and can be played alone or cooperatively.

You work the night shift at an isolated petrol station, where ordinary retail tasks gradually turn into a horror scenario. You need to restock shelves, receive deliveries, clean the shop and sell enough products to meet your quota.

The problem is that some customers are monsters disguised as humans. You must speak to them, examine their information and identify suspicious behaviour before deciding whether they are safe.

Letting a disguised creature leave can cause it to return and attack later in the shift. However, harming an innocent customer because of a bad assumption can create its own problems.

Tears of Metal needs a small release-date warning

Tears of Metal is a medieval hack-and-slash roguelike in which you fight alongside a Scottish battalion to reclaim an occupied island.

Xbox announced the game for Xbox Series X|S and PC as a day-one Game Pass release. Its PC Early Access version is scheduled for July 22, 2026.

However, Microsoft did not include Tears of Metal in its official Xbox releases list for July 20 to July 24. That leaves some uncertainty over whether the console edition will also arrive on July 22 or whether only the PC version will launch that day.

The game supports solo play and online co-op for up to four people. Each campaign allows you to collect new powers, combine upgrades and improve members of your battalion. Soldiers can gain permanent abilities, but losing one in battle may also mean losing that unit permanently.

SpeedRunners 2 is still scheduled for July

SpeedRunners 2: King of Speed is officially scheduled to launch through Game Pass in July 2026, although Xbox has not announced an exact date.

The sequel expands the competitive platform racing format to matches with up to eight players. Everyone runs, jumps, swings and uses weapons while remaining on the same screen.

Players who fall too far behind are eliminated by a shrinking wall of fire. The race continues until only one competitor remains.

SpeedRunners 2 is coming to Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC with Xbox Play Anywhere support. It will be available through Game Pass on day one.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 joined cloud, console and PC on July 2. The remake includes familiar parks and professional skaters alongside new locations, additional characters, modern controls, creation tools and online multiplayer.

Microsoft initially listed Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 as another July addition. However, Xbox edited its announcement on July 13 and removed the game. Only Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 is confirmed for this month.

Winds of Arcana: Ruination

Winds of Arcana: Ruination joined Game Pass on July 6. It is a fully voiced 2.5D Metroidvania featuring platforming, melee combat, magic and ability-based exploration.

MAVRIX by Matt Jones joined Game Pass with its version 1.0 release on July 16. It is an open-world mountain-biking game featuring trails, large jumps, online competitions, rider customisation and a career system.

FixForce

FixForce arrived on July 17. It is a cooperative extraction platformer in which robots enter worksites, gather spare parts and repair strange machinery.

Up to six players can work together, build structures from discarded materials and recover the detached heads of defeated teammates.

Fogpiercer

Fogpiercer joined PC Game Pass on July 17. It combines roguelike deckbuilding with tactical positioning and train construction.

Cards, environmental effects and train components can be combined to create chain reactions during combat.

Palworld 1.0 is not a new Game Pass addition

Palworld 1.0 launched on July 10 across cloud, console and PC. However, Palworld was already available through Xbox Game Pass before the full release.

For that reason, it should not be counted as a newly added July game. It is a major update to an existing catalog title.

The version 1.0 release adds new locations, characters and other content developed during the game’s extended early-access period. Existing Game Pass subscribers can access the full release without purchasing it separately.
