Nintendo and Genesis emulator plays on Xbox One after Microsoft Edge workaround

Update: We can confirm it’s working through Microsoft Edge.

It was pretty much expected that gamers would jump for joy when NES Box developer announced that the popular emulator would appear on Xbox One thanks to the amazing UWP system. After the game was announced and certified, however, Microsoft quickly declared that the Xbox One platform would not allow emulators regardless of UWP or not. Our dreams were dashed by the lack of Super Mario on our Xbox Ones, but it seems like the developer won’t give up.

Thanks to an HTML 5 workaround, you can now play NES games on your Xbox One via the Edge browser. Unfortunately, this is still in prototype and only features one game. The game is also letterboxed so you won’t have a full-screen experience. But it shows the dedication of the team behind the emulator.
