In a recent interview with EDGE Magazine, Head of Xbox, Phil Spencer, acknowledged the reduced support and offering in European countries. Currently we see Sony and Playstation controlling a large portion of the console market in Europe, which is something Spencer hopes to change in the future.
“We need to do better in Europe. “When I look globally, mainland Europe is definitely an area we want to focus on.”
After admitting their flaws, he continued to further explain the upcoming features and focus on European support, especially at this year’s Gamescom next month. With Playstation not hosting a press conference at the event, Xbox are hoping to bring new fans on board the Xbox ecosystem, with the new innovations and titles, exclusive to Xbox One. Games such as Scalebound, Crackdown, and Quantum break were all pushed out of the E3 2015 conference, hoping to free room, and fit into the allocated time slot. These titles are all planned to make an appearance next month, along with further detailing of games showcased made at E3.
“I’m excited about going to Gamescom at the beginning of August, having another press show where we’re able to show games that we didn’t show . So you’re going to see brand new games, as well as obviously some repeats, but you’re going to see Scalebound, Crackdown, Quantum Break from my friends at Remedy. From a product standpoint, I like where we are. I think the team’s doing a great job with the games and building a platform for gamers.”
Users in Europe should expect to be treated next month when Gamescom kicks off in Cologne. Microsoft have often shown preference to the US market, however with Sony being absent from Gamescom, they have an opportunity to win the show.
