Update 2:
It’s working again and back on the Xbox Store.
Update 1:
Xbox Support responded and gave further details. The representative said:
“Alright, so I do see the special edition on the store at Xbox.com. But you purchased the standard edition, and at this time, we’re advising customers to head to Rocksteady’s site and contact them about the game being pulled from the market…I know Rocksteady pulled the game from all markets before because of the optimization that had many issues on their end for the game title. At this moment though, I would highly advise contacting Rocksteady, the maker of the game, to have the information sorted out to download a copy of the game you purchased.”
We have reached out to Rocksteady for comment and shall update you as soon as we have a response.
Original Story:
In a strange turn of events, Batman: Arkham Knight’s standard edition has been removed off the Xbox Store and anyone who owns the game digitally can no longer play the game. If you launch the game you get an error message that states “Sorry, we can’t launch this right now. Thanks for your patience.”
The game’s “Premium Edition” is still listed on the Xbox One store for $53.99 but if you purchase it, you won’t be able to play the game. We have reached out to Microsoft for further comment and we will continue to update this page as more information is available.
Earlier this year, Batman: Arkham Knight launched on PC with numerous issues that eventually prompted Rocksteady remove the game off Steam entirely and issue refunds and to people who bought the game. The game was re-released nearly six months after the issue happened and was said to have fixed the issues, but players quickly discovered the game was still broken prompting Rocksteady and Warner Brothers to compensate players once again with free copies of old Batman games.
