Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 on Xbox One emerges best-selling game in November

NPD Group just published their results for November and Xbox One made significant strides when compared to last year. According to Microsoft, “Last month was our best November ever in the United States for Xbox One, setting new records for console sales, game sales and Xbox Live engagement. The most critically-acclaimed holiday lineup of exclusives in Xbox history helped drive 44% growth in Xbox Live hours over last November, and 72% growth in United States first-party retail game sales comparing sales from August through November in 2015 to the same period last year.”

Xbox One and PlayStation 4 sales were neck and neck. What’s more surprising is software sales. Take a look at the list below.

• Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 (XBO, PS4, 360, PS3, PC)
• Fallout 4 (PS4, XBO, PC)
• Star Wars: Battlefront (PS4, XBO, PC)
• Madden NFL 16 (PS4, XBO, 360, PS3)
• NBA 2K16 (PS4, XBO, 360, PS3)
• FIFA 16 (PS4, XBO, 360, PS3)
• Need for Speed (PS4, XBO)
• Halo 5: Guardians (XBO)
• Assassin’s Creed Syndicate (PS4, XBO, PC)
• Just Dance 2016 (Wii, NWU, 360, XBO, PS4, PS3)

It’s surprising to see Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 sell so well on Xbox One. Sony has a significant partnership with Activision. I’m assuming Microsoft’s focus on competitive sports lead to that decision. It might also be that Call of Duty has been on Xbox 360 for so long that customers just associate the console with the franchise.
