David Gaider, a lead writer at BioWare, has left the studio after 17 years. He has worked on some of their most popular games such as the Dragon Age series and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. Gaider joined BioWare in 1999 and was tasked with working on Baldur’s Gate 2.
Gaider revealed his departure in a tweet earlier today.
Some news: I must sadly announce that, after 17 years, today is my last day at BioWare. I’ll miss my team, and wish everyone here the best.

BioWare has not commented on his departure, but Polygon reached out to Gaider and he stated that while it wasn’t an easy decision to leave, he believes “It’s simply time to move onto a new challenge.”
There is no word as to where he is headed next. Gaider will make the announcement in due time.
