The original Xbox was the most powerful gaming machine on the market and the Xbox 360 focused on traditional power to provide better experiences than PlayStation 3. I still remember how Bayonetta was broken on PlayStation 3 but ran perfectly on Xbox 360. The Xbox One tried to take the odd PlayStation 3 approach instead of focusing on raw power and it put them in a strange position. However, Xbox Scorpio is taking the traditional approach again and crushes the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Neo by orders of magnitude. Even though the device gives you access to all of your games, it’s definitely a generational leap unlike PlayStation Neo.
Xbox’s Aaron Greenberg described the philosophy behind the console and how everyone was feeling at Microsoft Studios. He said, “We’re building a beast. It’s gonna be the most powerful console ever made, and as a guy who was here when we built the original Xbox, that being such a powerful box, and we pioneered with Xbox Live, and some of those innovative games, it really feels like we’re getting back to our roots. And I think the team here, we’re all gamers and we love what we do, and I’ve never seen the morale this high. People are fired up about what we’re delivering this year for our fans, and the vision of what we’re doing with Project Scorpio. It’s a pretty special time.”
This is great to hear because the Xbox Team at Microsoft has been working really hard over the years to provide us with great games and features. It’s great that they’re pumped for the launch and are looking forward to the future. The Xbox brand has never been this secure at Microsoft and that’s great for us gamers.
