Everspace receives its final update before leaving Xbox Game Preview

Everspace developer Rockfish Games have just released the game’s final update before it leaves Xbox Preview Program on May 26th. Available on both PC and Xbox One, version 0.7 introduces a brand-new alien race, functional cockpit displays, new equipment and more.

The Ancients, Everspace’s Alien civilization, are a mysterious group now available to discover inside the space-based roguelike. The race, being more technologically sophisticated than humans, have built teleporters which can be found all around the galaxy, allowing players to skip through certain parts of their journey. These teleporters may also have Glyphs in the surrounding area which, if found, allows players to apply certain stat benefits to their ship.

The Colonial Gunship has received a massive upgrade with the introduction of the Missile Turret weapon. This turret may have a long reload time but the weapon allows users to unload huge barrages of homing missiles for huge damage.

Much like Elite Dangerous, Everspace’s cockpit view is now entirely functional. Players can now play the game entirely in first-person for much better immersion without the need to back out for extra menus. The cockpit view now allows players to look at information about both their ship and any target they’re locked onto with another option available to play the game using just cockpit view information.

Version 0.7 also comes with a wealth of technical fixes. Not only have Rockfish Games worked hard to enhance the game’s performance and cut down on the game’s crashes, but the developers have also increased Everspace’s visual fidelity as well.
