Crowdfunded asymmetrical multiplayer game Friday the 13th may be running an unfinished beta build on the Xbox One version of the game.
Gun Media’s horror multiplayer title was extremely anticipated by fans of the iconic movie franchise, but it seems that Xbox One owners have been given the brown end of the stick with the launch version of the game being vastly unfinished compared to competition platforms.
Posted on the official forums for the game, forum member Xanadu noticed that the PS4 and PC versions of the game are hugely different from the Xbox One version. The Xbox version not only sees the absence of graphical features such as dynamic hair, but also uses beta assets from the PC version, including the same, unfinished menus from the months-old PC beta. The Xbox One version also doesn’t have a small tutorial like the others.
Whilst patches are supposed to be rolling out on Xbox One soon, the PS4 version has received two patches already. Aside from the obviously unfinished build running on Xbox, all versions of the game have problems with matchmaking, even after patches on PS4 and PC and, well, matchmaking on Xbox One isn’t good in the slightest.
For a $40 (£32) title in 2017, this treatment would be unacceptable on any platform, and with the problems that patched versions of the game still have, it seems that Xbox One owners should stay far away from the nightmare that is Friday the 13th. We’ll update you as soon as we know more or there’s a patch on Xbox One. Hopefully the developers are aware of these issues and are working to address them.
