More than 87% of Japanese gamers liked Microsoft’s Tokyo event where they showcased exclusives

The Xbox One event in Tokyo just ended and Japanese fans were given the chance to rate the event. This is a great way for the company to evaluate whether customers enjoyed the content. Niconico, the video service where the broadcast was streamed, asks viewers to gauge their appreciation at the end of each program. The results are as follows:

• Very good – 64.4%
• Pretty good – 23.4%
• Average – 8.0%
• Wasn’t very good – 1.3%
• Bad – 2.9%

Judging from this, the approval rating stood at 87.8% among the 48,377 gamers that watched the event. Games like Scalebound, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Rainbow Six Siege, and Halo 5: Guardians were showcased during the event. According to DualShockers, the Scalebound panel was especially popular. Fans at the show crowded the area in order to exchange a few words with Hideki Kamiya and ask for autographs.

It’s great to see Microsoft properly focusing on Japan and investing in games like Scalebound which really appeal to the local market. I’m sure Scalebound is just the first. Games like Psycho-Pass, Stranger of Sword City, and Students of the Round 2 are also Xbox One exclusives. Phil Spencer has a great new strategy it seems. It’ll be interesting to see how Scalebound and Xbox One perform when the title releases next year.
