Microsoft was announced as one of the top brands in the world according to Interbrand, grabbing the 4th position behind Apple and Google. Microsoft’s brand value skyrocketed to $72 million behind the $73 million that Coca-Cola managed to rake in. Apple grabbed the first spot unsurprisingly, topping $178 million in 2016.
It seems like the Windows 10 launch and the Surface brand managing to rake in over a billion in sales each quarter has helped Microsoft and their brand against bigger hardware rivals. Xbox One S have seen massive uptake recently and it will be interesting if that pushes up their brand value next year, not to mention the upcoming Surface Phone. Sony however remained a footnote with a brand value of $8 Million.
