Microsoft is finally letting developers build applications for the Xbox One. Beforehand, only a few individuals had access to the private developer tools. Starting from today, the kit will roll out to select testers, with plans to let anyone access the SDK in the coming months.
Developers will be able to create programs using the Windows 10 universal application platform. It is fairly simple for developers to target the console along with other devices. Microsoft plans on revealing more information at Build in April. Xbox One applications built with this new Windows 10 SDK will be available in November.
The SDK also includes access to Xbox Live services which allows anyone to utilize its features. Microsoft is also expanding the ID@Xbox program. Indie developers will be able to create games for both Xbox One and PC, and even the company’s new HoloLens headset using the universal application platform. This will result in a lot of new gaming experiences making their way onto phones, tablets, and even HoloLens. We can’t wait until November.
