Black Friday is one of the busiest times of the year when dozens of games, consoles, and accessories are discounted for the holidays. Microsoft recently released a statement saying that there was strong demand for Xbox this season.
Mike Nichols, Corporate Vice President of Xbox Marketing, said, “There was strong demand for Xbox hardware, accessories, games and Xbox Live engagement on Black Friday, based on initial results, with a strong start to the holiday season.”
We don’t exactly know what “strong demand” means as Microsoft did not give out any numbers. When the NPD Group releases their findings, we will likely know more details. Sony’s PlayStation 4 Pro released a couple weeks ago, so it will be interesting to see if the Xbox One can hold on and retain the top spot this holiday.
As Nichols also mentioned, Xbox One has been the best-selling console in the United States for four straight months. With price drops, the Xbox One S, and new Xbox One and Windows 10 titles like Gears of War 4, Forza Horizon 3, and ReCore, many players are jumping into the Xbox ecosystem.
