Update: No Man’s Sky has dropped 90% of its players two weeks after launch. The game sales have dropped 81% in its second week too. While an initial drop is expected, a continued drop is definitely bad news for the longevity of the game among the community.
No Man’s Sky could be one of the most hyped games of all time and while it sold very well initially, the game doesn’t seem to be doing very well at all post-launch. After being the biggest release on Steam of 2016 (so far), No Man’s Sky was hitting an average of 212,000 concurrent players at peak times, however, since launch Hello Games’ product has seen a drop-off of around 78 percent meaning that just a week after launch, No Man’s Sky’s concurrent player count is already at 47,000 concurrent.
This is not great news for Hello Games although the large amount of backlash surrounding No Man’s Sky and its controversial development has no sat well with players and large-scale media influencers expressing their disappointment with the final product.
For players still enjoying the vast universe that No Man’s Sky offers, Hello Games are still working on post-launch content and patches in order to improve stability and add new features such as base building.
