There was some contention recently in the gaming community when Bungie announced that Destiny 2 would be 30 FPS on consoles due to it being unable to run at 60 FPS on the PlayStation 4 Pro. When fans questioned if this was holding back the Project Scorpio version because of parity concerns and Sony’s marketing deal, Xbox’s Mike Ybarra said that developers are free to use Scorpio’s power how they wish. As a Project Cars 2 developer has now stated in an interview with GamingBolt, the Scorpio version of their game will not be held back because of the PlayStation 4 Pro.
Speaking to GamingBolt, Project Cars 2 Creative Director Andy Tudor said “We may go higher resolution on Scorpio compared to Pro, or we may keep lower res but increase detail. Again, too early to say, and if we can do something extra on Scorpio easily we will do, we won’t hold it back due to Pro.”
This is good news for fans who want the very best out of Project Scorpio but were worried if developers would hold back for a variety of reasons, such as parity or marketing deals. Slightly Mad Studios, the developers behind Project Cars 2, aim to take full advantage of Scorpio’s power.
