Update: Recommended system requirements have been revised. The new recommended specs are more modest, asking for an i5 4690 and a 4 GB GTX 970 or R9 390 but still 16 GB of RAM.
Xbox has just released a video on YouTube pointing out everything that has been announced for Quantum Break today, and I will be going into a little detail about it.
First off, Xbox brought out a new live-action story trailer called “The Cemetery”. The trailer shows the main protagonist “Jack Joyce” looking at a gravestone with the name “Joyce” engraved on it. Not to mention that there are fully armed soldiers coming straight for him and they’re stuttering all over the place. This was very much a teaser for the story and really makes me think about who was in that grave, was it his brother? Or was it even him? I don’t know anymore. Anyways, this has only made me more hyped for the game so the marketing has done its job on me. For a real feel of what the trailer is all about, I really advise that you watch it.
Fans of the white Sunset Overdrive Xbox One will be happy to know that it is seeing a return to the shelves. This time, in a Quantum Break bundle. Major Nelson also tweeted that as a pre-order bonus, buyers of the title will also get not only Alan Wake, but all of its DLC, including American Nightmare. I’m very happy as I never got to play American Nightmare so here’s my chance. However, I would have much preferred a custom console, something like Halo 5’s bundle, but this certainly whets my appetite.
Major Nelson then goes on to nudge Aaron Greenberg to talk about the Windows 10 version of the game. This edition will be available alongside the Xbox One release of the game. This really doesn’t bother me, nor does it excite me to be honest because I only play on consoles anyway. The system requirements for the game are insane. No way I could afford that. I can see that PC gaming fans will be extremely excited that this title will be coming to Windows 10 though, so congratulations to those people. Aaron then goes on to say that the saves between the Xbox One and Windows 10 editions of the game will be synced, meaning that if you play on both, you only need one save.
That is so awesome, and I wonder why other games haven’t quite utilized this. Then, they say that for a certain amount of time, the game will be cross-buy, so if you buy it for Xbox One you get it for Windows 10 for free. But only if you pre-order the game through the Xbox Store, and you only get the chance to get the Windows 10 edition free in that pre-order period. This really gives gamers a lot more flexibility when it comes to playing the game.
Overall then, Microsoft dropped quite a few bombs today. The only thing that they could have done differently is with the white Xbox One bundle. I would have much preferred a custom console. Other than that, though, very good day for fans of Quantum Break!
