Remedy Entertainment’s next project, codenamed Project 7 (P7), has received a publishing partner in 505 Games who will distribute the game across digital and retail versions. Digital Bros has announced, through its subsidiary 505 Games, that the company will bring P7 to Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
The group will contribute €7.75 million in development funding and marketing and publishing services in exchange for 45% of royalties on net sales. The game will be distributed worldwide.
In an interview with Polygon months ago, Remedy Entertainment Game Director Mikael Kasurinen revealed some information about P7 by saying “With the new project, it is important to find a more fluid, more organic way to tell stories without losing the interesting characters, surprising plot and so on and at the same time move the game play in a direction where it becomes more meaningful. This is the key reason we want to find a more streamlined way of telling stories.”
We’ve now learned that P7 is a cinematic third-person action game set in a new universe of Remedy’s design. “Featuring an intriguing story and a game structure offering a long-lasting experience, P7 contains the deepest game mechanics yet in a Remedy game. The game is built on Remedy’s proprietary Northlight technology.”
Regarding this partnership, Remedy CEO Tero Virtala said “We have a strong vision of what P7 should be. 505 Games brings into this partnership experience and competences that help us successfully make this vision become reality together. Remedy is also investing in P7 and is deeply committed to creating an unique gaming experience that will keep the players engaged and playing for a long time to come. We are really excited to embark on this journey with 505 Games.”
Remedy has not announced a release window so it could be years before we ever get to play P7. With E3 2017 coming up, Remedy could possibly show a teaser trailer. We’ll find out soon enough.
