Microsoft revealed Xbox Scorpio with Xbox One S to give consumers choice

Phil Spencer announced Xbox Scorpio after Xbox One S and many outlets were confused as to why he did so. They thought it was a bad idea because “no one would buy an Xbox One S because they know something better is coming.” This is in fact a very consumer-friendly move because it educates people and gives them the choice of getting an entry level device or a premium product. I guess the media is used to deceptive Sony marketing so they can’t understand when a move is better for consumers.

Phil Spencer said, “The reason we announced when we did—one is I wanted to give customers a view into what we were doing. If they say I have an Xbox One now, I’m thinking about an Xbox One S, I want to be as transparent as I can be so they know they’re buying with as much information as I can give them. I can’t always give them all the information, but I want to give them this information. I want to talk about Scorpio so customers can feel like they have a view into what we were doing so they could make the decision that is right for them.”

Not only did Phil Spencer make the PlayStation Neo obsolete before it came out, he also gave Xbox One gamers a choice. I think this is a great blend between tackling the competition and being fair to your consumers. It’s true. I for one will be getting an Xbox One S because it’s an affordable 4K Blu-ray player which will look great on my set. The premium experience isn’t an affordable option right now but when I’m ready I will upgrade. It’s great to know that all the games I buy on my Xbox One S will work on Xbox Scorpio so I don’t lose my investment.
