Indie games are considered to be extremely important for consoles nowadays because they add variety that massive first-party and third-party titles cannot deliver. The indie scene is becoming a massive business and acquiring console exclusives that owners of competing platforms crave is vital. Last night, it was revealed that both Ashen and Cuphead are lifetime console exclusives for Xbox One.
Ashen seems like a unique twist on the normal role-playing game and I cannot wait to experience it. It reminds me of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons too. Brothers is one of my most favorite games of all time.
Cuphead needs no introduction. Ever since it was first introduced last year, the hype surrounding the game keeps on growing. I have never seen anything like it. Cuphead is a run and gun game in which you play as the titular character. According to the developers, the player loses a bet with the Devil and spends the game attempting to repay it. Cuphead has infinite lives and keeps weapons between deaths. Additionally, the game has a two-player co-op mode that adds another human player to the single-player boss battles.
The fact that Microsoft was able to secure these two popular indie games as exclusives is a major coup, especially Cuphead. Xbox One will be the only place you can play these titles. Well, you can also play them on Windows but that is Microsoft’s other gaming platform so it is a win-win situation for them. These games cannot come out sooner. I cannot wait anymore.
