According to an Xbox Live message, those how pre-ordered the digital version of Halo 5: Guardians, need to take attention to the game size in order to receive the day one update and be able to play the game on the launch day.
The Xbox Live message states the fallowing:
“Thank you for pre-ordering Halo 5: Guardians. To ensure you have the correct update installed and you are ready to play at launch, please visit: http://aka.ms/h5launchupdate.”
The link redirects to a Halo Waypoint page called “Support: Issues Launching Halo 5: Guardians” that gives the following instructions about what is needed to do to ensure that everyone has the updated version of the game needed to play on day one:
“If you’ve digitally pre-ordered Halo 5: Guardians on your Xbox One before September 21 and are NOT using Instant-On power mode, you may still have an incorrect “stub file” for the title, which is simply a placeholder file. Players that have this particular version of the stub file will be required to delete it, and reinstall the title.
If you’ve pre-ordered on or after September 21, you should be ready to download the necessary updates as they become available. Once these updates have been installed, you’ll then be able to play Halo 5: Guardians. If you’re unsure if you’ve got this particular stub file, here’s how you can check:
1. Go to My games & apps
2. Sort your game collection by selecting Installed à Sort by size
-> If your Halo 5: Guardians game size is greater than 40 GB, you’ve got the correct version, and you’re ready to download the necessary updates when they become available.
-> If your Halo 5: Guardians game size is less than 40 GB, you’ve got an incorrect stub file, and will need to delete that version and reinstall the game.”
Once you have the correct game version, you will receive the 9 GB day one update once it becomes available, which will be released starting today until October 26 in order to ensure that everyone that pre-order the game is able to play it once it becomes available on October 27.
