PlayStation 4 drops Battlefield 1 to 90p at times

With Battlefield 1 rocking the gaming world with its awesome gameplay and critically-acclaimed story mode, PlayStation 4 gamers were in for a rude awakening. Since the start of this generation, analysts have capitalized on the rabid nature of gamer fanboys by combing over every pixel—or lack thereof—of each game launching on Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Because of this, gamers have generally favored the Sony counterpart because it had more of the elusive pixels the Xbox lacked, even if you wouldn’t notice a difference.

Well fast forward to today, and we have the all-powerful PlayStation struggling to hold anything above 100p on Battlefield 1 apparently. Screenshots and analyses of Battlefield 1 have revealed that the console struggled during the Conquest modes on the blockbuster title, reaching a staggering low of 160p by 90p—not a typo—in the game. Yes, 90p. The Xbox One isn’t without its faults, it managed a low of 1280p by 720p in the same mode. However, it crushes the PlayStation 4 giving gamers an overall better frame rate and crisp and clear visuals. DICE, however, have improved the overall graphics and resolution on Xbox One from the beta, something gamers on the platform will appreciate.

The resolution reached by the PlayStation 4 isn’t even something the original NES could reach if it tried. It ran games at around 480p output. Seems like the PlayStation 4 isn’t done showing us those underlying faults. With PlayStation 4 Pro launching later this year, we might hopefully see better resolutions from the more expensive console. Until then, gamers have only one option. Hopefully this is a simple glitch which can be patched easily and doesn’t represent bigger problems with the code.
