Nintendo and Genesis emulator in certification for Xbox One

Update: The program has passed certification and should be available for Xbox One soon.

Thanks to the power of the Universal Windows Platform, gamers on the Xbox One system will soon be playing Super Nintendo, NES and Genesis games thanks to the NESBox Emulator being converted to the Windows 10 platform. The game, which will run on Windows 10, Mobile and Xbox One is currently in certification and might appear in the store in the next few hours.

Microsoft announced earlier this month that developers were free to submit Xbox One apps built around UWP, and several have already appeared in the store, mostly from Microsoft themselves. The NESbox app will give gamers an opportunity to play several public domain games that were until now only available on Nintendo platforms.

Unfortunately, Super Mario Brothers is still not available for free, but it remains to be seen if Nintendo would allow gamers on Xbox One playing games that might be pirated.
