Ubisoft is the latest publisher to applaud the Xbox One’s backwards compatibility. According to Ubisoft’s head Yves Guillemot, Microsoft’s decision to add the feature to the next-generation console is “very good news for the industry”.
Guillemot added, “It’s good news for gamers that Microsoft was able to work on the compatibility aspect. They expect to come with 100 titles quite quickly, so that’s really good news. It will help some of the brands, like Splinter Cell for us, to come to Xbox One, which is great.” It looks like the company will release the Xbox 360 Splinter Cell games on Xbox One as a way to promote the franchise. It should be noted that Ubisoft is doing something similar to promote Rainbow Six. The company is giving away backwards compatible versions of Xbox 360 Rainbow Six games with Rainbow Six Siege to promote the franchise on Xbox One.
According to Microsoft, backwards compatibility on Xbox One will fully support Xbox 360 downloadable content. I can’t wait for Skyrim to come to Xbox One so I can finally finish the Dawnguard expansion. Multiplayer also works as long as the game’s servers are still running.
