The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is an ambitious game and, according to developers, filled with hundreds of hours of content. Recently, the download size for the game was revealed on Xbox One. The title sits at 25.15 gigabytes so be sure to pre-load the game when it is available for pre-order on the store. Recently, a multitude of gaming websites reported that the install size for consoles would be close to 50 gigabytes, but that clearly is not the case. Considering that the size for the Windows version is only 40 gigabytes and features the best textures, it is hard to imagine that the console version would be bigger than that. The assumption that the console versions would somehow take up more space than the Windows version with the best textures was quite odd to begin with. However, now that we have confirmation on the size, these rather ridiculous rumors can be laid to rest.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s marketing boasts an expansive world, gorgeously detailed environments, dynamics enemies and a sophisticated combat system. Whether it lives up to the hype remains to be seen, but all signs point to it being an incredible experience. For those of you worried about the download size, let me remind you that Lords of the Fallen, another game with ties to CD Projekt RED, was only 5.9 gigabytes and featured some gorgeous graphics and great combat. It was also quite long and had multiple endings and diverging paths. It is all about optimization. The Witcher 3 will be a massive experience and you shouldn’t be concerned with the download size for this title because it is not a good indicator of gameplay hours. CD Projekt RED are crafting an incredible experience and are some of the best developers in the gaming industry. They were the ones who managed to make The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings run on the Xbox 360 and make it look absolutely stunning. Be sure to check out that Xbox 360 exclusive if you haven’t done so already to understand just how amazing this studio is. We can’t wait to play this title and are relieved that a lot of time was spent optimizing the game so that it wasn’t a burden to install and run on consoles.
