Kingdom Hearts finally lands on Xbox as a three-part collection

Kingdom Hearts arrives on Xbox on October 6 as a single bundle.

Xbox lists KINGDOM HEARTS Collection [I~III] as three packages in one. It is an Xbox Play Anywhere title, so one purchase covers Xbox Series X|S and Windows.

That closes one of the longest running gaps in the Xbox catalog.

What is in the Kingdom Hearts Collection

Three packages: KINGDOM HEARTS -HD 1.5+2.5 ReMIX-, KINGDOM HEARTS HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, and KINGDOM HEARTS III with its Re Mind DLC.

The 1.5+2.5 ReMIX package is the bulk of it, collecting the early games and their remasters.

2.8 Final Chapter Prologue is the bridge, and the one most players skip then regret skipping when the third game opens.

Kingdom Hearts III plus Re Mind is the modern entry, and the only part built for current hardware from the start.

Xbox has not published a price for the collection or said whether the three parts can be bought separately. Square Enix prices the PC version of the first package at $14.99 in the US.

Why it took this long

Kingdom Hearts was a PlayStation series for most of its life, and the Disney license made publishing more complicated than a normal port.

The collections reached PC through the Epic Games Store before Steam, and Steam before Xbox. The 1.5+2.5 ReMIX package arrived on PC in June 2024, developed and published by Square Enix.

That is the order a series takes when platform exclusivity expires in stages rather than all at once.

A bundle rather than three listings suggests Square Enix wants the series to land as one decision rather than three smaller ones.

A crowded day to arrive on

October 6 is the busiest Xbox day of the month. Gears of War: E-Day gets its full release and lands on Game Pass, and STAR WARS: Galactic Racer launches at full price.

A back catalog bundle has the advantage of patience. It is not competing for launch night so much as for the weeks afterwards.

Play Anywhere matters more than it looks for a series this long. Dozens of hours across three packages, and moving between a console and a laptop without buying twice is the difference between finishing it and abandoning it in the second game.

For anyone who came to Xbox from PlayStation and left the series behind, this is the first time the whole thing is available on the platform at once.

Square Enix has been widening its releases across the current generation, and Kingdom Hearts was one of the last large holdouts.

Whether the remaining spin-offs follow is not something the company has addressed.

The series runs to dozens of hours, so the bundle is less a weekend purchase than a commitment, which is probably why it arrives as one package rather than three.
