Palworld has two official PC storefronts. The Xbox Store copy is Xbox Play Anywhere, so it also unlocks the Xbox console version; the Steam copy stays in your Steam library and is the one that works with Steam Workshop.

Install Palworld through Steam

The Xbox Store page lists Palworld under Premium, PC only and Ultimate, and says a game purchase is required to stream it with Game Pass Essential. Mac and iPhone players depend on the cloud, so the monthly cloud playtime limit decides how long they can play.
Is Palworld free?
No. Palworld is a paid game with a US list price of $29.99 on Steam, the Xbox Store and the PlayStation Store; Game Pass Premium, Ultimate and PC Game Pass include it at no extra charge. Steam marks the game as not free. The closest thing to a free try is on PS5, where PlayStation Plus Premium includes a 2-hour full game trial.

Steam notes that performance may vary depending on the amount of active Pals, and both tiers require a 64-bit processor and operating system.
Can you download Palworld on Mac?
No. Steam lists Palworld for Windows only, with no Mac build, but a Mac can stream it from Xbox Cloud Gaming by opening Safari or another browser at xbox.com/play. The Xbox Store lists Palworld for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Xbox Cloud Gaming and handheld, and the PlayStation Store lists PS5. Fix Palworld not downloading or installing
Palworld is missing from the Xbox app after buying it on Xbox
Xbox Play Anywhere unlocks the PC version only for a digital copy, on the same Microsoft account.
- Confirm the copy you own is digital; Xbox Play Anywhere only applies to digital games.
- Sign in to the Xbox app with the same Microsoft account used on the console.
- Open My Library and install Palworld from there.
The Xbox app will not install or open on Windows
The Xbox PC app requires Windows 10/11 version 22H2 or higher and does not play games in Windows S mode.
- Run Windows Update until the PC is on version 22H2 or later.
- Switch the PC out of Windows S mode if it is in it.

Palworld installs but stutters or loads slowly on PC
Steam lists an SSD as required and 16 GB RAM as the minimum memory.

- Lower the world settings if the game warns that they are set too high for the system.

Palworld crashes or saves fail to load after an update, with mods installed
Mods left installed from before version 1.0, especially since around 2024, can cause crashes, corrupted save data or quests that cannot progress.
- Remove old mod files and mod loaders from the Palworld game folder; turning mods off or disabling them is not enough, because files left in the folder can still load.
- Start Palworld without mods to confirm it runs.
- Add back only mods made for version 1.0, such as current Steam Workshop items.
