CD Projekt RED, the studio that brought us the massive Witcher games, has been hard at work on a new project the past couple years titled Cyberpunk 2077. The game will be an open world sci-fi RPG and, according to visual effects artist Jose Teixeira, “far bigger than anything else that CD Projekt RED has done before.” Teixeira implied that development of The Witcher 3 was preparing the team to handle something as big as Cyberpunk 2077, which will include a physically larger and more complicated world. He “can almost guarantee” that Cyberpunk 2077 will benefit greatly from the work done on The Witcher 3 and the lessons learned during its production. He said, “I have a lot of things that I want to change and do better the next time around, and I can guarantee that almost everyone in that studio has something that they go ‘I did this this time, next time I can do it differently, I can do it better’.”
The release date for Cyberpunk 2077 is currently unknown, and after The Witcher 3 was delayed last year, for good reason, to improve some features and remove bugs, we think it is unlikely that we will see Cyberpunk 2077 releasing anytime soon. In the mean time however, you can watch the 2013 teaser trailer.
