Update 2: The listing has been removed altogether from the Xbox Store. We don’t know when the game will appear again or whether it’ll be available for preorder. We do know that it releases on June 21 so sit tight.
Update 1: The option to buy it and play it now has been removed. If you were lucky enough to get it beforehand, enjoy! The game should be available for digital preorder soon as the “Buy” box has been replaced with a “Bundle” box which usually appears when a title goes up for preorder. The fact that the game was available to buy and play this early signifies an error on Microsoft’s part. A preorder page was made into a proper release page. I’m glad it was rectified quickly.
Whoops! It looks like someone over at Microsoft messed up. It appears that Deadlight: Director’s Cut is available early on Xbox One despite the fact that the game is supposed to release on June 21. I don’t think I’ve ever seen any game release six weeks early before due to an error like this.
I was able to purchase the game early and play it on Xbox One. We reached out to Deep Silver and they were unaware of any shift in the release date but promised to look into this. We’ll update you as soon as we know more as they’ve promised to let us know as soon as they can discuss it with Microsoft. Until then, download the game and play it if you’re a fan of the original on Xbox 360.
The original Deadlight was also available for free through Games with Gold many months ago. Deadlight: Director’s Cut is a remastered version of the title and is an absolutely fantastic experience. I would say it’s a mix of Shadow Complex and zombies…that’s basically what Deadlight is if you were simply describing it. I can’t recommend this game enough and if you’re able to see the option to buy it, it would be wrong of you not to pull the trigger on this one. Get this game right now because it’s just that good!
