As a reminder for Xbox Live users, Microsoft have announced that any credit received from the Microsoft Point switchover in 2013, will be removed from users accounts on June 1st. Emails have been sent to those affected by the change, asking users to spend the credit received or have it removed from their accounts on the day.
A Microsoft spokesman contacted video game news site, Eurogamer, and gave them the following statement:
“When we retired Microsoft Points in 2013, people who had remaining Points received equivalent or greater purchasing power in local currency and were informed the funds would expire.
Many have used these funds to purchase games, add-ons and other content. Remaining promotional balances are set to expire June 1, 2015. We are committed to working directly with our customers who have specific questions about their individual accounts.”
With users having been notified when the conversion happened, this is not a large shock. It is presumed that in the past 2 years, a majority of the currency has been spent on the Xbox Store. If you do still have some of your converted points left in your account, make sure to spend them this weekend, otherwise they will be taken back!
If you do have any credit left, or have received an email, let us know in the comments!
