Update: Official Sony documents confirm that the Xbox Scorpio has a 2 TFLOPS advantage over the PlayStation Neo.
The slides clearly state that the PlayStation Neo is around 2.3 times as powerful than the PlayStation 4 which confirms the leaks which stated that the console was at around 4 TFLOPS. The Xbox Scorpio will feature 6 TFLOPS of computing power, maybe a little more when the final specifications are revealed to make sure 4K gaming is guaranteed.
Original Story: Head of Xbox Phil Spencer has stated that the upcoming Project Scorpio will be 4.5 times more powerful than the original Xbox One. During Giant Bomb’s E3 show on Wednesday, Spencer said, “Scorpio is more powerful than the original Xbox One, four and a half times. And the 6 TFLOPS will impact the games and how they play.”
Considering the games that Xbox One can currently run right now, I’m excited to see what possibilities Scorpio opens up. Project Scorpio will release in holiday 2017. It will support 4K gaming, high-fidelity VR experiences, and is set to be the most powerful console ever made upon release. If you want to compare it to the competition, the console is 3.5 times more powerful than the PlayStation 4 pegged at around 1.8 TFLOPS and 1.5 times more powerful than the PlayStation Neo which company manuals state is around 4 TFLOPS, maybe a little over. In order to match Project Scorpio, PlayStation Neo would need to combine with a standard PlayStation 4. That’s how much more powerful Project Scorpio is. We’ll update you when we gain access to Sony’s official documentation regarding their upgraded console.
