Ever since January, Microsoft has talked about how it’s bringing Skype messaging into the native texting app on Windows 10 Mobile. This morning, the beta was finally released to the public. You can download it here.
The Messaging Skype Beta app comes in at around 25 MB and requires permission to take over your current messaging program. The download installs a second app called Skype Video Preview. This app is a much more streamlined Skype experience that lets users direct call to each other with video. Basically it’s like Apple’s FaceTime app.
According to Windows Central, the overall experience so far with both apps is positive. The messaging apps is very similar to the current messaging app. Users can choose a Skype or typical SMS-style when creating a new message. Like all things, remember that you are installing a beta app. There are bound to be bugs and issues.
