An ad has appeared on several Japanese websites publicizing the fact that Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain has shipped 3 million copies worldwide.
The ad image is the one below, and the Japanese characters translate into the following:
“Cumulative worldwide shipments: three million copies breakthrough.”
Taking into consideration the release date and the time of the ad’s appearance, it suggests that this number is related to the first day shipments since Konami didn’t have time to restock worldwide retailers. Although it’s not a bad mark, the previous Hideo Kojima title, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of The Patriots, also reached this mark upon release.
