Threes! goes free-to-play on Windows Phone

The award winning puzzle game ‘Threes!’ has been given a free version, across all its mobile platforms. The official Threes game account announced via Twitter last night that the game’s website had been quietly updated, and left it for the public to solve. Since, we have discovered that a free version has been launched, separate from the regular $1.99/£2.29 version.

‘Threes!’ is based on the concept of adding multiples of three, as they appear on the board. The game shows similar features to 2048, however is what many would call the ‘premium’ version.

The advert model embedded into the game allows ads to be watched before gameplay, and in return, gives spendable credits. This has been put in place to avoid the dreaded modern ‘freemium model’. The gameplay is not interrupted, unlike many free-to-play mobile titles currently on the mobile application stores. The regular edition can still be purchased, at the original price.

The game is now available for free on Windows Phone, here. Sadly, the Xbox One version is still priced at $4.99, however a reduction may appear over the coming weeks. The gameplay offered on Xbox One is further developed than the mobile edition however, so may not see a price reduction.
