Activision’s Eric Hirshberg says their most-disliked games sell best

I have to say, the arrogance of Activision and its executives knows no bounds. We all know that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare’s trailer was the most disliked in the history of YouTube but instead of addressing fan concerns Eric Hirshberg basically said that the more dislikes they get the better their games sell. Really now?

Hirshberg said, “Our previous most-disliked trailer was the reveal trailer for Black Ops 2. That was the first time we brought the franchise into the future. And that turned out to be one of our most successful games ever…we haven’t seen such a reaction on other platforms and in other metrics. We didn’t see it in our preorder momentum, we didn’t see it even in the same exact trailer on other platforms, like Facebook. It was unique.”

So basically instead of actually delivering a historical World War game like many Call of Duty fans have been asking for, Activision is pushing their own agenda. It seems like Hirshberg has no interest in learning why gamers are angry and instead just wants to blame the dislikes on trolls. Facebook really can’t compare to YouTube when it comes to video content. I hope the game is good because Activision’s attitude surely isn’t. I’m also surprised that Hirshberg said that their most-disliked games sell the best because Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare preorders are very low currently. Maybe the lowest they’ve been in years.
