Update: According to numerous reports on social media and Reddit, it looks like Astroneer supports USB keyboard input on Xbox One. It doesn’t work with a mouse. The same reports suggest that Trove also has this feature. We haven’t been able to verify this ourselves because we haven’t bought a USB keyboard in decades. However, if you have a USB keyboard lying around, test out both games and let us know.
Astroneer game out on Xbox Game Preview today and it’s a lot of fun. However, even though the performance is solid, it’s still a little dry when it comes to features. Fear not mortal, the developers have promised to add much more in the coming months. According to a post on their blog, their list of high-priority objects are as follows:
• Address bugs and crashes to improve game stability and performance across all platforms. For example, client experience in multiplayer or performance drops
• Leverage existing game content into additional or improved gameplay and features. For example, Creative Tools Suite or improved Crane gameplay.
• Develop and communicate brand new features. For example, dedicated servers or narrative-focused gameplay.
However, it gets better. If you look at their other goals, they give specific objectives they want to accomplish. The list goes as follows:
• Creative Suite.
• Land and space vehicular gameplay.
• Complex encounters and discoveries.
• Automation sandbox.
• Complex hazards.
• Customization.
• Additions to world fauna.
• Narrative.
• Art direction and visual design improvements.
• Trade and player economy.
• Advanced terrain technology.
• Survival mechanics like food and hunger.
I’m definitely excited for all of these changes but for me space vehicular gameplay has to be the one I’m looking forward to the most. What about you? Let us know in the comments below.
