Here’s everything you need to know about the Star Wars: Battlefront open beta

Star Wars Battlefront will be running an open beta from October 8th to October 12th, and we are here to tell you everything you need to know before the beta starts!

Firstly, it’s an open beta meaning you won’t need to sign up on any websites or wait for a code to be emailed to you. You just go to the Xbox store on Xbox One and download it on October 8th, the only thing it’ll cost you is 7GBs on your hard drive. If you’re on PC you can pre-load the beta on October 7th so you can spring into the action as soon as the servers are live, the PC beta will be slightly bigger than the Xbox One version weighing in at 11 GBs.

Now that all that is out of the way, let’s talk about what you’ll actually get to play and see when you’re in the beta.

Battlefront Beta Modes:

Walker Assault on Hoth: Fight in epic 40-player battles as a Rebel to destroy the Empire’s onslaught of AT-ATs by calling in Y-wing bombers. Or, side with the Empire and protect your walkers while utilizing their mighty weaponry to crush the Rebel objective.

Drop Zone on Sullust: Escape pods are crashing down and you and your team must fight to control them. With its frantic 8v8 matches, Drop Zone is sure to put your combat and strategy skills to the test.

Survival Mission on Tatooine: Play alone or with a friend via co-op or split-screen as you battle to hold off waves of Imperial forces including AT-ST’s, TIE fighters, elite Stormtroopers, and more.

You will be able to play as Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker in the Hoth Walker Assault mode by racking up enough kills to bring the strong light saber wielding allies into battle. They will start to slowly die the second they step on the battlefield, their life serves as a timer. The more kills you get as them the longer you can play as them. You can play the entire match as them if you’re good enough but the likeliness of that is slim considering everyone is going to be running away from you or trying to unload their blasters on you as a team.

EA also said we would be able to rank up to level five, once you hit the level cap you won’t be able to hit anything beyond level five but you can unlock more items.

EA wants to stress that players may experience “interruptions” as the beta is to test the game’s online infrastructure. Furthermore, you will not be able to carry any progress made in the beta to the final game.

Once the beta ends you’ll probably be craving more, you won’t have to wait long because Star Wars Battlefront releases November 17th. If the game makes you crave some of those beautiful Star Wars storylines, Battlefront won’t have it because there is no campaign but Star Wars The Force Awakens releases in theaters December 18th, being the first live action Star Wars film in a decade.
