The NPD just released its sales report for the month of January 2016, detailing the best-selling physical games in the US. Unsurprisingly, Black Ops 3 was the number one best-seller for yet another month, that’s a total of 3 consecutive months that this game has been on the top of the podium.
Something that may surprise you however, is the fact that the game sold better on the Xbox One, even though Sony has the marketing rights to the game, boasting early access to DLC. This is a clear indication that the COD franchise is still very much associated with the Xbox brand what with Microsoft owning the marketing rights for such a long time.
The list is as follows:
• COD Black Ops III (XBO, PS4, X360, PS3, PC)
• Grand Theft Auto V (PS4, XBO, X360, PS3, PC)
• NBA 2K16 (PS4, XBO, X360, PS3)
• Star Wars Battlefront (XBO, PS4, PC)
• Fallout 4 (PS4, XBO, PC)
• Minecraft (X360, XBO, PS4, PS3)
• Rainbow 6 Siege (XBO, PS4, PC)
• Madden 16 (PS4, XBO, X360, PS3)
• Lego Marvel’s The Avengers (PS4, XBO, X360, NWU, PS3, 3DS, PSV)
• FIFA 16 (PS4, XBO, X360, PS3)
I’ve got to say I’m a bit surprised that Minecraft in continuing to make the top ten at the momentum it is, considering how old the game is now. It should also be noted that almost all of the major blockbusters sold best on Xbox One.
