We all knew Fallout 4 was going to be one of the biggest games of 2015 when it was announced at E3 back in June, some people skipped school and called in sick to work just to play it the day it came out. After the first week of release most of us resumed out normal lives and would turn on Fallout 4 when we had free time, but for one Russian man this was not the case.
A man in Russia is currently suing Bethesda for his addiction to Fallout 4, claiming his wife left him and he lost his job. He wants 500,000 roubles (roughly $7,000 USD) for his “emotional distress”.
The man claims he only intended on playing it for a “couple of evenings” but started to skip work to play more and more of the critically acclaimed RPG. His employer later fired him from his job which of course freed up some of his time during the weekdays leading him to get so addicted that his wife left him. He also claimed his health started to fall apart as well.
“If I knew that this game could have become so addictive, I would have become a lot more wary of it,” he said in a statement to Russian media outlet, RT. “I would not have bought it, or I would have left it until I was on holiday or until the New Year holidays.”
Every once in a while you’ll hear of stories like this, but this one is probably one of the saddest or funniest depending on how you look at it. One could say the man has suffered a lot of fallout from playing Fallout 4…I will see myself out.
Fallout 4 released on November 10 and we gave it a 9 out of 10, calling it a “a remarkable experience”. Additionally, player created mods will release sometime in 2016 for players to download to their Xbox One!
