Update: Microsoft pulled the early listing after a few hours but the game is back on the Xbox Store as it was meant to release on June 1. The price listed beforehand was $20 but the final cost comes to just $10. If you purchased the game early a few days ago, be sure to ask for a refund for $10 by contacting Xbox Support.
After the debacle that was the Deadlight: Director’s Cut early release on the Xbox Store, it looks like another title has made its way to the console a few days before launch. Mind you, it’s not six weeks early like Deadlight: Director’s Cut but it’s still a few days early. Fragments of Him has a release date of June 1. Be sure to pick it up if you haven’t already because it might be delisted from the Xbox Store once Microsoft finds out what happened.
In Fragments of Him you experience the lives of four people connected by love and a tragic accident. You walk alongside Will on his last morning and discover the meaning of his final thoughts. With Mary, Will’s grandmother, you learn about his childhood, their conflict, and how they ultimately reconciled some of their differences. Sarah was Will’s girlfriend and first love. She tells us how she found a deeper understanding of herself during their time together. And finally, Harry is Will’s partner when the accident happens.
Can Harry ever accept the loss? More akin to a theatre play than traditional game, in Fragments of Him you explore the world in a first-person view and gently guide Will, Mary, Sarah, and Harry along their journeys. It is a compelling emotional drama deliberately designed without puzzles or difficulty, and created for players seeking a thought-provoking and artistic experience. Although melancholy at times, it is ultimately an uplifting exploration of what it means to truly open your heart to others. As the threads of Will’s life combine, they create a single story of love, memories, and hope.
