Halo 5: Guardians is a few months away and a steady amount of information about the game keeps on coming out. Yesterday on Halo Waypoint, 343 Industries shared more details about squad commands and the scope of the game. Orders given to squad members are contextual and initiated through a single button by pressing up on the D-pad. Simply place your reticle over a location, object or target and press the up button. The order issued changes depending on what you’re looking at. The goal was to keep the orders simple so they don’t pull you out of the combat.
Halo 5 was designed with co-op gameplay in mind and each Spartan has its own unique HUD to reflect that. Designing a game for co-op not only leads to larger environments, but also requires a greater number of enemies to be active in any given area. You don’t want to run out of enemies to shoot. Also, because up to four friends can play together, large areas give more freedom in splitting up and exploring the environment. 343 Industries are going to tell a story at a truly galactic scale with Halo 5’s campaign. A story big enough to fill the worlds they’ve created for it.
