When Metal Gear Solid V released earlier this month players quickly discovered there was parts of the story cut from the game, some of which give closure to certain story lines that are left wide open at the end of Metal Gear Solid V. Fans were obviously upset because Metal Gear Solid V was supposed to answer all the unanswered questions fans had, but the game ended up giving more questions than anyone had when they started the game.
No one knows if the missions were cut because they didn’t have enough time to finish them or because of the Kojima/Konami split and we will probably never find out since Konami seems to be leaving behind triple A games for mobile games and Hideo Kojima is most likely silenced by an NDA.
One of the many questions people have now is if the missions will be finished through DLC or if we would get any story DLC at all. Robert Peeler, community manager at Konami, replied to a fan who asked this question saying “I don’t have any particular story content to announce, no”.
Another one of the pieces of cut content was being able to return to Camp Omega, the setting of the prologue to The Phantom Pain, Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes. Kojima tweeted a long time ago that players would be able to visit Camp Omega, and trailers would suggest that certain story missions took place there. It could’ve been cut because you blow Camp Omega to kingdom come at the end of one of the side ops in Ground Zeroes or because there was no time to finish it or the fallout with Kojima/Konami. However don’t be too sad, Robert Peeler said players will be able to visit Camp Omega in Metal Gear Online, the competitive multiplayer aspect of The Phantom Pain.
Players can expect to Fulton each other out of Camp Omega on October 6th when Metal Gear Online launches via a free update for Phantom Pain owners.
