E3 2017: Microsoft unveils Xbox One X and numerous exclusives

Gearing up for Microsoft’s press conference many speculated Project Scorpio’s price point and what games would be showcased. Forza Motorsport 7 and Ori and the Will of the Wisps have already allegedly leaked, with those in the games industry revealing that a $499 price for Scorpio is likely. BioWare’s new IP Anthem is set to receive a full gameplay reveal, and we can expect a few surprises as well. Microsoft’s conference is beginning shortly so stick with us as we cover everything announced.

Xbox One X (Project Scorpio)

A teaser trailer finally showing the final version of Project Scorpio, now known as Xbox One X, was shown. It will launch worldwide on November 7, 2017. All Xbox One games and accessories will work with Xbox One X, and the 4K console provides enhancements for 1080p displays as previously revealed. The Xbox One X will be the smallest Xbox console ever. Xbox One X will be available for $499.

Forza Motorsport 7

Forza Motorsport 7 was announced with a premiere trailer. A new gameplay demo was showcased on Xbox One X. Forza Motorsport 7 runs at native 4K 60 FPS on the upcoming console. It is set to release on October 3, 2017. In an interview after the event, Forza Motorsport 7’s developers said that the console still had 30% power to spare even after they ran the game at the highest setting at 4K 60 FPS.

Metro Exodus

A new Metro game was announced with an extended trailer showcasing its enhancements thanks to Xbox One X.

Assassin’s Creed Origins

Assassin’s Creed Origins received its first trailer, surprising no one. It looks stunning running at 4K. Ubisoft announced that more RPG elements were added to the systemic world.

Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds

Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds will be coming to Xbox One as a console exclusive later this year with Xbox One X enhancements.

Deep Rock Galactic

A new game was announced as a console exclusive with Mixer features.

State of Decay 2

State of Decay 2 received a new trailer giving us a better look at the zombie survival game. It will release spring 2018.

The Darwin Project

A new multiplayer game was shown. It seems Mixer streaming is encouraged.

Minecraft

Community run servers and more will be added to Minecraft. A free 4K update will be coming this fall.

Dragon Ball FighterZ

Phil Spencer took to the stage to announce that Dragon Ball FighterZ will be coming to Xbox One.

Black Desert

Black Desert will be launching as a console exclusive on Xbox One.

The Last Night

A teaser trailer for The Last Night was shown.

Code Vein

Code Vein is coming to Xbox One in 2018.

The Artful Escape

Sea of Thieves

An extended look at Sea of Thieves was shown with new gameplay. Looting buried treasure and battling skeletons while making your way back to your ship looks as epic as ever. Sea of Thieves is coming early 2018.

Tacoma

The Xbox console exclusive Tacoma will release on August 2.

Super Lucky’s Tale

Super Lucky’s Tale is coming to Xbox One.

Cuphead

Cuphead is finally releasing on September 29.

Crackdown 3

Terry Crews introduced Crackdown 3 in a video. It also received new gameplay footage showcasing the destruction players are capable of creating. Crackdown 3 will release on November 7.

ID@Xbox

Like every year, an indie games montage was shown. Phil Spencer announced that over 500 games have released on Xbox One and Windows 10 through the ID@Xbox program.

Ashen

Ashen from Aurora44 reappeared with a new trailer.

Life is Strange: Before the Storm

The rumored Life is Strange prequel received its first trailer. The series will contain three episodes with the first one debuting on August 31, 2017.

Middle-earth: Shadow of War

Middle-earth: Shadow of War received more gameplay and runs at 4K on Xbox One X.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Composer Gareth Coker took to the stage to perform a piece during the reveal trailer of Ori and the Will of the Wisps, the much-anticipated sequel to the beloved Xbox exclusive platformer.

Original Xbox Backward Compatibility

Phil Spencer announced that original Xbox games are becoming backward compatible later this year!

Anthem

EA’s Patrick Söderlund introduced the world premiere gameplay of BioWare’s new IP Anthem. Players can suit up in exosuits called Javelins, each with unique abilities, to protect humanity from alien threats. Anthem supports online co-op and is coming in 2018.

In a final video montage showcasing games coming to Xbox One X in 4K, Killing Floor 2 was shown.
