We all know that Beam is coming to Xbox One. It’s basically a Twitch-like service which, you know, doesn’t suck. It’s faster, has much less latency, and doesn’t give you a dozen errors every time you want to stream. It also allows you to stream video while streaming gameplay. On PC this is easy because you can stream using any old camera on the planet, on Xbox One your only option is Kinect at the moment. That might change though.
Mike Ybarra said that they want to add third-party camera functionality to Xbox One in the “near future”. This means that you can stream to Beam using a cheaper camera. I imagine that only certain models will be supported at first with more coming later. I’m not sure which cameras are popular among the streaming community but the top ones should be the first to work with Xbox One. We’ll update you when we have more information but you may have to wait a few months for that.
