More than a month ago, gaming website Gamekyo posted information regarding their discussion with Konami’s technology director, Julien Merceron, about the resolution and frame rate for PES 2016 and Metal Gear Solid V on Xbox One. Merceron stated that because of the new Xbox One SDK, the developers were able to bump up both games to 1080p 60 FPS.
While the gaming media dismissed this interview and some outlets even labeled it as fabricated, it seems they can’t ignore the facts anymore. Adam Bhatti, PES 2016’s product manager, just confirmed that the game runs at 1080p on Xbox One. Considering that 60 FPS has been a core pillar for the franchise and is advertised in every press release, we already know what the frame rate is on Xbox One.
We got there thankfully, Xbox One #PES2016 will be 1080p 👍

This corroborates what Gamekyo claimed more than a month ago. Metal Gear Solid V and PES 2016 do indeed run at 1080p 60 FPS on Xbox One. Hopefully more developers will utilize the improved Xbox One SDK so we can move past the resolution debate once and for all. What’s interesting is that DirectX 12 tools aren’t even available to a multitude of developers and the old SDK is providing amazing results. I wonder how much of a difference DirectX 12 will make when it finally hits the console.
